Hi There — My name is Kimber and I am The Study Abroad Specialist and the Founder of LiveStudyLearn Abroad. Welcome to your #1 destination for study abroad semester planning!
As a former study abroad intern, study abroad undergrad student, study abroad graduate student, and expat career professional (Read more about my journey here), I know the decision to begin a study abroad experience can be life-changing.
From finding your perfect program, searching for scholarships and financial aid, coordinating your visa, and preparing to travel to your host country, it can be thrilling but daunting.
My study abroad advising program is designed to help you create and structure a semester away plan that is realistic and fits into your overall future academic and career plans.
Benefits of Study Abroad Advising
The biggest benefit of study abroad advising is being able to work with someone who can help you put all the moving parts of the puzzle together to create a seamless semester abroad.
When I first embarked on my study abroad path in 2007, I had no blueprint. College advisors, while they meant well, had outdated information on what “success abroad” actually would look like.
My goal is to help future study abroaders avoid common pitfalls and get the most out of their time away.
What topics do you cover in Study Abroad Advising Sessions?
All sessions are 1:1 and are tailored to your specific needs. Common topics covered with my advisees in sessions include:
Finding a Study Abroad Program
Study Abroad Applications
Scholarship, Grant, or Loan Applications
Statement of Purpose/Personal Statement Development
Visa Application Advice
How to prepare for culture shock and homesickness
Packing for a semester abroad
How many sessions should I plan to book?
Every advising student I work with has different needs based on where they are in the application process. On average, most advisees book 6-7 sessions after the initial “Let’s Chat’ session.
Initial ‘Let’s Chat’ Sessions are always free. All sessions following initial sessions are charged on an hourly basis.
